Your Ticket to Tracking Asset Utilization

Automating the associating of meter templates to an organization’s assets

Oracle Maintenance Cloud is used to service assets that have been sold or internally held. Maintenance Cloud provides an integrated Asset Management application that can be used to define and maintain assets for an internal organization (enterprise asset) or an external customer (customer asset). This cloud application provides the ability to define and use meters (similar to physical meter installed to measure electricity usage) to track asset utilization.

The meter readings supply a historical record of asset use or asset condition at intervals defined by the user and give insight into the asset conditions. These can be useful during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Examples of the meter readings include the number of operating hours, cycles, revolutions, or miles on a given asset.

Ideally, each asset would have a meter and a reading to track its usage. As such, recording these meter readings is one of the key functionalities that drives Asset Management. This application allows for each asset to be linked to a corresponding meter template. After establishing this link, users typically capture the meter reading when the maintenance work order is completed. If this meter template does not exist at the time of maintenance work order completion, the meter reading would not be captured, reducing the efficiency of asset management.

Bridging the Gap

Because of this gap in functionality and the fact that Data Loading and Web Services are not supported in this configuration, the meter template needs to be configured manually for this association to work. In any business, there can be thousands of assets existing in its legacy system with the potential for additional assets to be created in the future. For these assets, the manual association of to the meter template is tedious, unpredictable, and has a high chance of human error. To help bridge this gap, Inspirage has developed a solution which runs automatically and does not require user assistance.

Our automated solution linking the meter template to an asset alleviates these challenges and gives the added bonus capability of the automation occurring instantaneously. Maintenance work order submission is no longer necessary. Instead of waiting for work order completion, Inspirage built our solution so that the meter applicability of an asset item is assigned at the time of its creation. By utilizing Inspirage’s solution, your company can save time and resources while ensuring accuracy in your asset template designations. Our solution addresses the cut-over activity and stands as a permanent solution even after Go Live. This scheduled integration can be configured according to each individual business’ needs.
