Enterprises are adopting more Cloud-based solutions. These applications promise greater flexibility and lower costs, but they also pose new challenges to enterprise architecture. With the subscription of each new Cloud application, enterprise data becomes segregated into Cloud applications, leading to complex integration needs and architecture to manage. In reality, most enterprises have one or more existing on-premise application and they exist behind firewalls. All these resident on-premise applications require integrations with Cloud application from behind the firewall making it more complex.
The adoption of Cloud computing models, such as Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and the growing number of mobile applications and social media platforms means that data and processes are also moving outside security of firewall into the Cloud. Enterprises need to think about how their applications integrate with each other to achieve the business goals without compromising security.
